SONIC MATERIAL ACTIVATION SYSTEMS

Our Sonic Horns Acoustically Clean Light Material Buildup from Large Surfaces Areas.

AcoustiClean® Sonic Horns are designed to produce low frequency, high volume sound vibrations to prevent costly material build-up in hoppers, bins, silos, boilers, ESP, SCR, fans, and more. Sound waves are produced by applying 70-90 PSI of compressed air at a volume of 40-80 CFM to the sound generator which vibrates a high-strength titanium diaphragm. The sound waves mobilize the dry material.* The size and shape of the horn’s bell section determines the acoustic energy produced. A longer horn with a larger bell section will produce more energy and clean a larger area.

  • Easy to install – Mount outside vessel or hang inside (dependent on application heat restrictions)
  • Cast Iron or Stainless Steel construction – Suitable for high heat and/or food process applications
  • Low Maintenance – Titanium diaphragm is the only moving part
  • Improved process efficiency and productivity – Fewer unscheduled shut downs for cleaning

Accessories

Solenoid Valves

We supply the solenoid valve which is required to control the flow of air to the horn.

Stainless Steel Flex Hose

The stainless steel braided flex hose is used to connect the solenoid valve and hard piping from your compressor.

Timers

Two types of timers are available to control the interval and length of time the AcoustiClean™ horn will sound. A very simple timer can plug into the DIN contacts on the valve to control one horn, or we can provide special timers in a control box designed to control multiple devices. Your horn can also be controlled by your existing PLC.

Sound Generators

After several years of constant use, the sound generator will need to be re-machined back to original specifications, or replaced.

Titanium Diaphragm

The only moving part in an AcoustiClean™ sonic horn is the titanium diaphragm, which should be replaced yearly. If your horn is making strange noises, or does not appear to be functioning properly, the diaphragm is likely broken.

AcoustiClean® Sonic Horn Applications

  • Boilers – Clean heat transfer surfaces, increasing heat transfer efficiency and eliminating need for steam soot blowers.
  • Baghouses – Helps reduce pressure drop across surfaces, extending bag life.
  • Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) – Eliminates rapping system and wear to plates and wires.
  • Silos, Bins, Hoppers – Eliminates rat holing, bridging and prevents particulate buildup on vertical walls.
  • Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) – Cleans catalysts.
  • Fans – Eliminates material build-up on blades

Users with flow issues in very large vessels may want to consider installing AirSweeps® at the bottom of the vessel and AcoustiClean® sonic horns at the top to ensure the best possible flow. On boilers, the most effective installation will have the horn(s) blowing in the same direction as the pipes, where the acoustics can get between the pipes and the walls of the boiler. (For example, end-to-end.) Sounding the horn behind pipes on one side of the boiler toward pipes on the other side will generally not produce effective results.

* Material must be relatively dry and powdery. Sonic horns are typically not effective if the moisture content is above 25%. The best alternative is our AirSweep® System – contact us for more information.
